Lee Jae-yong: Samsung accelerates its chip production expansion; Gwangju will be developed into a memory chip base

Golden Finance News reports that on June 29, Samsung Group Chairman Lee Jae-yong said, “This is a race against time.” He also added that the updated plan will speed up Samsung Electronics’ construction of a chip factory in the Seoul metropolitan area. According to the plan, Gwangju in the southwest of South Korea will be developed into a new storage-chip manufacturing center, while Cheonan and Wuan will be built into high-bandwidth memory (HBM) packaging centers. In addition, Samsung Electronics also plans to deploy humanoid robots at its chip factory in Gumi-si, North Gyeongsang Province, and to increase related investment.
