Belgian Prime Minister complains: We dare not name China, we are too afraid
EU leaders will hold a summit in Brussels on June 18-19. According to reports, China is expected to be at the core of the agenda, but leaders will not mention the word "China," instead discussing "competitiveness, global economic challenges" and so-called "geoeconomic imbalances."
According to Euractiv and the Belgian news agency, on June 9 local time, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, while attending an EU think tank event in Brussels, hyped the "China threat," claiming that European leaders are increasingly wary of China and that the EU must urgently develop a serious strategy to resist China's economic dominance.
When talking about the EU summit "avoiding mentioning China," De Wever played the victim, saying, "The reason we talk about geoeconomic imbalances is just to avoid naming China, because we are too afraid, even to do that." After speaking, he continued to act insincerely, asking if there were any journalists present.
The report said that at the event that day, De Wever stated: "(Europe) must respond. The only question is how to respond."$BNB
