UK plans to increase enforcement of Iran-related sanctions

On June 29, according to a report by the Financial Times, Giles Thomson, head of the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) in the UK, said in an interview that the UK is currently stepping up efforts to impose penalties on companies that violate the rules by doing business with Iran. Thomson revealed that the sanctions related to Russia remain OFSI’s top priority. The department is also deepening cooperation with the United States, and the two sides are expected to jointly issue penalty notices in the future. In addition, the department will soon, for the first time, second personnel to the Bank of England.
