Europe has been experiencing persistent high temperatures recently, with multiple regions setting new historical records, driving a rapid surge in demand for air conditioning.
Due to installation challenges in many older European apartments, such as the inability to drill holes and restrictions on exterior modifications, Chinese home appliance companies like Midea, Gree, and Haier have introduced installation-free, portable split air conditioners that meet local market needs.
Related products are selling well in Europe. Midea's PortaSplit portable split air conditioner has sold out in markets such as Germany, Spain, and France, with second-hand prices reportedly reaching two to three times the original price.
Midea stated that this year the company's air conditioning sales in Western Europe have been strong, with markets in France, Spain, Germany, and the UK seeing year-on-year growth of over 70%.
Extreme heat may be becoming the new normal for summer electricity and cooling demand in Europe, and the European cooling equipment market is expected to continue expanding, with Chinese home appliance companies likely to further open up growth space through their product adaptability.
