BIS Warns Stablecoin Growth Could Weaken Monetary Policy

The BIS warned that the stablecoin market, estimated at around $316 billion, could fragment the global monetary system. The BIS said stablecoins lack the institutional framework needed for large-scale payments. The BIS proposed a unified ledger for tokenized central bank money, commercial bank deposits, and financial assets.
