Zero-Basics Science: What is Qiyao (Seven Luminaries)?

Many people don't understand Qiyao. Actually, it is the ancient way of dividing a week into 7 days, corresponding to 7 celestial bodies in the sky, with a 7-day cycle.
The fixed basic correspondence of Qiyao (like an unchanging ruler):
1. Sun = Sun, Five Elements: Fire
2. Moon = Moon, Five Elements: Water
3. Mars = Mars, Five Elements: Fire
4. Mercury = Mercury, Five Elements: Water
5. Jupiter = Jupiter, Five Elements: Wood
6. Venus = Venus, Five Elements: Metal
7. Saturn = Saturn, Five Elements: Earth
Disadvantages of common Qiyao on the market:
It follows a fixed weekly cycle, and its arrangement will not change for a hundred years.
Yijing (I Ching) studies emphasize that the energy of heaven and earth changes every year. A cycle that never changes does not conform to natural laws, so an improved dynamically updated Qiyao algorithm has been developed.
Preview of the two core rules of the improved system:
1. Every year at the Start of Spring (Lichun), clear the previous year's cycle and restart a new year;
2. Adjust the starting position of Qiyao according to the current year's zodiac, so the sequence does not repeat each year.
