Jeff Bezos' ex-wife donates over $26 billion, yet her wealth still exceeds $34 billion
Years ago, MacKenzie Scott, ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, pledged to give away most of her fortune, and she has indeed donated more than $26.3 billion since 2019 to support nonprofit organizations.
In 2025 alone, her donations totaled $7.1 billion, with a strong focus on higher education and climate initiatives. The grants included $783 million for historically Black colleges and universities in the United States, $90 million for a coalition working to protect tropical forests, and $60 million for an organization supporting girls' education in Africa.
Scott's donations are notable for being unconditional, giving organizations the freedom to decide how to spend the funds according to their needs—an approach that provides them with greater flexibility in implementing their programs.
Despite donating over $26 billion, her wealth is still estimated at around $34.4 billion according to the Bloomberg Index.
