Jinse Finance reports that Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei told lawmakers in the United States Congress that the development of open-source AI is entering a “very dangerous path.” Once powerful AI models are released in an open-source format, developers will lose effective regulatory oversight over how the models are used, including being unable to monitor abuse, revoke access, or dynamically update security safeguards—thereby significantly increasing potential risks. Dario Amodei emphasized that, compared with closed model systems, fully open models are more difficult to implement sustained control for in terms of security governance, which may lead to irreversible abuse risks.
