Brazil's first international match was against Argentina in 1914.

Brazil is the most successful football team in the world today, as it is the most decorated national team in the FIFA World Cup with 5 titles in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002.
Seleção also has the best overall record in the World Cup, with 76 wins in 114 matches, a goal difference of +129, 247 points, and only 19 losses.[7][8]
Brazil is the only team in the world to have participated in every World Cup held so far and has never even had to go through a playoff.
It is also the only team to have won the World Cup on four different continents, including Europe (1958), South America (1962), North America (1970 and 1994), and Asia (2002).

Brazil is also the most successful team in the FIFA Confederations Cup with 4 titles in 1997, 2005, 2009, and 2013.
They also won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics,[9] thus becoming one of only two nations, along with France, to have won all FIFA tournaments for men's 11-a-side football at all age levels.[9][10][11][12][13]
A popular saying in football is, "The English invented football, and the Brazilians perfected it."[14]
The Brazilian team in its golden period is often considered the best-playing team on the planet and is always a top championship contender in World Cup finals.
