A study by the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) attributes the death of thousands of fish along the Anakapalli coast in India to an algal bloom that caused oxygen depletion. The incident, affecting around 11 tonnes of fish, primarily pony fish, occurred over a 1,500-metre stretch at Boyapadu.
