Jinse Finance reported that on June 27 local time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference, saying that between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River there is no longer any space for a “two-state” solution. Netanyahu also said that the Israeli public had previously been divided on the issue of a “two-state solution,” but that attitude has changed over the past three years (since the outbreak of a new round of Israeli-Palestinian conflict in October 2023). Public opinion analysis holds that Netanyahu’s latest remarks mean the idea of establishing a Palestinian state that can live in peace alongside Israel on the territory Israel occupied during the 1967 Middle East war has suffered its latest setback—despite the fact that 157 of the 193 UN member states have recognized Palestine’s statehood.
