On June 28, the Malu Tang Grand Bridge on the Tianma Expressway, located in Malipo County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, successfully completed its closure, marking the full connection of the Tianma Expressway and adding another cross-border artery connecting China and Vietnam. The Malu Tang Grand Bridge spans the Malu Tang Reservoir, with a total length of 1,005.5 meters and a main span of 480 meters. It is a steel-concrete composite girder cable-stayed bridge with a semi-floating system of double towers and double cable planes. There is one main pier on each of the north and south banks, with the tallest tower reaching 254 meters, equivalent to a building over 80 stories high, standing in a steep canyon with a gradient of nearly 75 degrees. Due to the complex regional geological conditions, including widespread fault fissures, broken rock zones, and ancient landslide bodies, construction faced significant challenges. The frontline construction personnel overcame various difficulties, and after more than 910 days, the bridge deck achieved millimeter-level precision alignment, marking a major milestone for the entire line.
