Strait of Hormuz disruption affects $125 billion worth of ships and cargo

Global insurance and risk management firm Allianz Commercial said in a report released on the 24th that geopolitical tensions have become the primary challenge facing the global shipping industry, with the “blockage” of the Strait of Hormuz affecting ships and cargo with a total value of approximately $125 billion. The company’s “2026 Shipping Safety and Transport Review Report,” released the same day, shows that recent fighting in the Middle East has caused the “blockage” in the Strait of Hormuz. As of June 15, the total value of the affected ships and cargo is approximately $125 billion, and their total tonnage is about 29 million total tons. (Xinhua News Agency)
