Wu Says learned that BitmapPunks co-founder FreeLunchCapital posted that the main accounting model of the deployed contract of BitmanPunks was damaged in an attack and cannot be fixed. The only way to restore correct ownership is to redeploy the main contract. The team is evaluating two paths: deploying a pure ERC-721 contract and reminting, or airdropping as pure ERC-20 tokens, decoupling the artwork from the tokens. The team also said that it is communicating with multiple entities interested in taking over the token and community operations. If a suitable team is found, the source code and related construction results will be handed over. The official reminds that if there is an airdrop or threshold-limited reminting in the future, ownership will be based on the snapshot before the attack, and NFTs purchased after the hack will not be counted.

NFTs bought after the hack don't count for the snapshot. Does the current floor price already reflect this news?

The main contract was attacked beyond repair, which is indeed unfortunate, but being willing to hand over the source code to a new team counts as responsible—better than stubbornly holding on.

The idea of ERC-20 airdrop is quite interesting. Separating art and tokens actually makes it more flexible, but whether the community will accept it depends on the execution.
