Mars Finance News, June 27 - According to insiders, Anthropic PBC and the Trump administration are nearing an agreement to lift restrictions on the company's two most advanced AI models, following weeks of negotiations over system security issues. The sources said that U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is making progress in alleviating security concerns, which would help remove the Commerce Department's export controls on Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 systems. Once officials from various government departments approve, these restrictions could be lifted, they stated. The insiders, who requested anonymity as the discussions are not public, said the negotiations involve multiple senior executives from Anthropic, including co-founder Tom Brown, who recently met with Lutnick and other senior government officials. The sources noted that U.S. officials have informed Anthropic that the restrictions will be removed once the government's security concerns are addressed. It remains unclear how quickly the White House and other government agencies actively involved in AI policy-making will grant approval. A U.S. official said the Commerce Department is working to reach a solution with Anthropic and seeks to ensure the entire government aligns on the decision. (Yicai)
