The U.S. government may lift restrictions on the Anthropic Fable 5 model as early as next week.

Deep Tide TechFlow news: On June 27, according to Axios citing informed sources, the U.S. government is close to allowing Anthropic to restore access to its Fable 5 model. The model was previously suspended due to safety concerns raised by the government and has been offline for about 15 days.

Sources said the relevant restrictions could be lifted as early as next week. Another person familiar with the matter revealed that communication between the U.S. government and Anthropic is expected to continue through the weekend, and the company is expected to reopen access to Fable 5 in the near future.

Earlier, the U.S. Department of Commerce approved Anthropic on Friday to restore access to the Mythos 5 model for some trusted users.

Separately, according to Semafor, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in a letter to Anthropic that the company has worked with the U.S. government to address risks related to Mythos 5 and Fable 5, and that the related efforts have made “significant progress.”

The report said that Anthropic has also committed to continuing cooperation with the U.S. government on model releases, the setting of industry standards, and related agreement frameworks. (JinTen)

The future of AI will be shaped by who controls access not just who builds the best model
