According to Livecoins, the Federal District Police in Brazil launched "Operation Rastro" to combat fraud in the PIX instant payment system and cryptocurrency money laundering. The police stated that the gang allegedly exploited vulnerabilities in a national credit cooperative system, causing losses of over 5.5 million reais (approximately $1.06 million) through 425 PIX fraudulent transactions. Part of the funds were used to purchase balances on crypto exchanges both in Brazil and abroad to conceal the flow of funds. The police have executed 7 search warrants, seized equipment, documents, and crypto asset wallets, and frozen funds in related bank accounts.
