OpenAI: Launches a Limited Preview of the Next-Generation GPT-5.6 Series

On June 27, OpenAI announced that it has opened a limited preview of the GPT-5.6 series. The series includes the flagship model Sol, a balanced model Terra for everyday work, and Luna, a fast and cost-effective model. It is stated that Terra’s performance is comparable to GPT-5.5 but at half the price, while Luna delivers strong capabilities at the lowest cost. OpenAI said that it plans to fully roll out GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna within the next few weeks. Before today’s release, OpenAI communicated the models’ capabilities and the release plans with the U.S. government.
