According to New Hampshire Public Radio, a new law in the U.S. state of New Hampshire requires cryptocurrency ATMs to add anti-fraud protections, setting a daily transaction limit of $2,000 for crypto ATMs and establishing a 48-hour cancellation and refund window. If victims report the scam to law enforcement within two weeks of being defrauded, the crypto ATM operating company must provide a full refund. The report states that the regulation aims to address the issue of scammers luring victims, particularly the elderly, into transferring money through crypto ATMs.

From complete laissez-faire to mandatory cooling-off period, regulation has finally caught up. Although slow, it's better than nothing.

Is the operating company going to issue a full refund? Who will bear the cost? The fees are going to increase again, right?

This bill in New Hampshire is pretty pragmatic—there’s a full two-week reporting window for victims, so scam crews are going to have a headache.

The 48-hour cancellation window is a clever design, much more effective than recovering funds after the fact; other states are likely to follow suit.

Crypto ATMs are finally going to be regulated. The kind of casual transfers of tens of thousands of dollars before were too outrageous, and elderly people simply couldn’t react in time.

$2000 cap + 48-hour cooling-off period, this design does protect the elderly, but will it also lock out normal users?
