Deep Tide TechFlow message: On June 27, according to a report by the Financial Times, Apple is lobbying the Trump administration to obtain approval to purchase DRAM chips produced by China’s DRAM manufacturer ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT).

The report says Apple’s move is aimed at securing regulatory approval so that CXMT can be included in its memory-chip supply chain. At present, the United States has imposed multiple export and supply-chain restrictions on China’s semiconductor industry, meaning that related procurement faces more stringent policy reviews.

If approval is ultimately granted, CXMT is expected to further expand its influence in the international consumer electronics supply chain, and it will also become another important case in the ongoing technology and semiconductor policy standoff between China and the United States. (Jin10)
