The green color comes from chlorophyll, the substance that captures sunlight. That's why in autumn, chlorophyll decreases and leaves turn yellow or red.

Leaves are also the lungs of the tree. Through stomata, they release oxygen and take in carbon dioxide. So every time you breathe fresh air, remember there are leaves working silently behind the scenes.

The leaf is the plant's small kitchen. In each leaf, photosynthesis occurs, the process of converting sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into food.

Its shapes vary, some are wide, thin, serrated, or smooth. The leaf veins are like highways that deliver water and nutrients to all parts.
