One of the most famous traders on the Polymarket platform, known as Voidslap, incurred losses exceeding $9 million after a series of losing bets on the national teams of Haiti, Tunisia, and New Zealand during the 2026 World Cup.

According to data from the Arkham platform, the trader became known for a series of high-risk bets on underdog teams, making him one of the most prominent examples of high risk in crypto-based prediction markets.

Voidslap joined the Polymarket platform in June 2026 and began placing massive bets on unlikely outcomes, most notably:

Haiti: He repeatedly bet on the team winning or covering the spread, losing millions of dollars, and at one point held a position worth $3.16 million.

Tunisia: Incurred additional losses after losing bets, most notably against Japan.

New Zealand: He continued his series of bets on the team, which increased the size of his losses.

According to the data, his total losses amounted to approximately $9.05 million, which is equivalent to about 99% of the capital he allocated to this series of bets.

His story sparked widespread interaction on social media platforms, turning into a prominent example of the risks associated with high-risk bets, especially when betting on outcomes with low probabilities.

This coincided with Polymarket recording record trading volumes during the World Cup, but Voidslap was among the traders who incurred the most losses, after confidently betting on teams that the markets considered long shots, ending with massive losses
