After weeks of the US government's decision to block foreign access to Anthropic's most powerful models, pressure has returned to target OpenAI.
According to a report by The Information:
The US government asked OpenAI to temporarily restrict the launch of GPT-5.6 until the government review is completed.
CEO Sam Altman said:
We made it clear to the US government that this is not the model we prefer in the long run.
It seems that advanced AI models are no longer just competing among themselves… but have also come under US national security scrutiny.
