The conflict in the Middle East has driven up fuel prices. The two power companies, HK Electric (02638) and CLP (00002), announced that from August to October this year, they will provide special electricity subsidies and rebates to eligible residential customers. HK Electric will offer a subsidy of 8 cents per kWh to residential customers with monthly electricity consumption of 450 kWh or less; CLP will provide a "special fuel cost rebate" of 8 cents per kWh to residential customers with a bill period consumption of 900 kWh or less.
