Quantum computer developer Taiyi Quantum raises $44 million

Shanghai-based startup Taiyi Quantum raised 300 million yuan (approximately $44 million) in a pre-seed funding round. It was led by Gaorong Venture Capital and IDG Capital.

The company is run by Liu Hongbin, a former Azure Quantum architect at Microsoft. Taiyi Quantum is developing a quantum computer based on neutral ytterbium atoms: in this approach, qubits are individual atoms held by lasers.
