A video circulating online shows a small plane crashing into Beijing's CITIC Tower today before falling, with no reports of casualties yet.

The footage shows the plane breaking apart in mid-air after hitting the upper east side of CITIC Tower, with debris scattered everywhere. Some wreckage fell onto the awning at the east entrance and caught fire, damaging the building's glass windows.

Reuters quoted a witness saying that around 6 p.m., he heard a loud sound as a car-sized plane hit the tower, and then he rushed to the scene from nearby, saying, "The sound was very loud, louder than fireworks." The report noted that police cordoned off the roads around the building, which was filled with dozens of police cars and several fire trucks.

Located in the Chaoyang District's Central Business District (CBD), CITIC Tower is the headquarters of CITIC Group. Its 108 above-ground floors make it the tallest in Beijing, also known as "China Zun." It is reported that the crashed aircraft belongs to Dongshi Shuangyue General Aviation Company, which offers services such as aerial tours, performance flights, and license training, with its base at Beijing Pinggu Shifosi General Airport.
