Mars Financial News, June 26 - Serenity tweeted about the widespread use of Chinese AI models by U.S. companies, citing a UBS report indicating that many businesses have started routing simple tasks to cheaper Chinese open-source models. Some teams are spending up to $35k per month on tokens, exceeding budget by 200%, which is putting pressure on revenue growth from high-end models. Serenity believes the UBS report is accurate and attributes this to a capitalist dilemma — the market naturally chooses the cheapest option, and Chinese models like DeepSeek are significantly cheaper than Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic. Serenity also stated that the Trump administration was correct to suspend access to Fable/Mythos, as top models face a high risk of repeated distillation, and models approaching ASI level should have higher access thresholds. Serenity believes the U.S. needs to do two things: further develop models skilled in cheap reasoning, and impose bank-grade identity verification for AI model access.
