CoinWorld News: IREN, a mining company transitioning to AI cloud computing, has signed a multi-year jersey advertising partnership agreement with the NBA's Golden State Warriors. The average annual value of the contract exceeds $50 million, setting a record for jersey advertising sponsorship in North American professional sports teams. IREN will become the official AI Cloud partner of the Warriors, with its brand appearing on the jerseys of the Warriors, the WNBA's Golden State Valkyries, and the G League's Santa Cruz Warriors, as well as covering rights such as the Chase Center, replacing the previous sponsor Rakuten.

Mining company pivots to AI cloud and still drops $50M to sign the Warriors — that's a hard narrative pivot.

An average of 50 million USD a year sets a record—people are going to hear the term “AI Cloud” in the stadium so much that they’ll get sick of it, haha.

Rakuten getting squeezed out is a bit lamentable, but IREN's move is clearly aimed at North American brand recognition. Old-timers in the mining circle understand.
