I was behind an older man at the grocery store today.


He kept taking items out of his cart.
Not because he changed his mind.
Because the total was higher than he expected.
When the cashier finally said, "You're all set," he smiled.
Then walked out with half of what he came to buy.
Sometimes inflation isn't a number.
It's everything people quietly leave behind.
