Yesterday, the group stage of Groups A, B, and C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup (hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico) concluded, with multiple do-or-die matches determining the advancing teams, offering plenty of highlights. In Group C, Brazil cruised to a 3-0 win over Scotland, with Vinícius scoring one goal in each half and Cunha sealing the victory. Neymar, sidelined for 981 days with injury, came off the bench and returned to the World Cup stage after a long absence, as the Samba Boys won all three matches to comfortably top the group.

Group A saw an upset: South Korea only needed a draw to advance but lost 0-1 to South Africa, with Maseko scoring the only goal of the match. South Africa advanced to the knockout stage for the first time in their history, while South Korea dropped to third in the group, their fate hanging in the balance. Mexico defeated Czech Republic 3-0, keeping a clean sheet and advancing with a perfect record.

In Group B, Switzerland beat hosts Canada 2-1 to top the group, while Bosnia and Herzegovina came from behind to defeat Qatar 3-1, securing a knockout-stage spot as one of the best third-place finishers. Qatar lost all three matches and finished at the bottom.

At this point, more than ten teams have locked in their Round of 16 spots. With the 48-team format, competition among third-place teams is heated, and the advancement prospects of several Asian teams remain unclear. The remaining groups will finish their matches tonight, and the knockout-stage matchup landscape will soon be fully revealed.
