Jinse Finance reports that on June 26, according to an analysis by The Washington Post of data from the U.S. Federal Election Commission, as the midterm elections approach, major donors in American politics have invested over $1.3 billion in the current election cycle to influence national politics. These donors tend to support the Republican Party, and this funding could be crucial for the GOP to retain control of Congress in November. In the first half of 2026, donors leaning Republican contributed a total of $880 million, compared to $290 million from donors leaning Democratic, and $200 million from cross-party and special interest groups. Newly minted billionaire Elon Musk tops the list of individual donors, having contributed $85.1 million to Republican-related organizations or individuals.
