SK Hynix Becomes an AI Memory Giant Wall Street Can’t Ignore
The AI boom has created clear winners across the semiconductor industry, and few companies have benefited more than SK Hynix. As demand for advanced AI infrastructure rises worldwide, the South Korean memory maker has emerged as one of the most important suppliers supporting the next generation of AI systems.
The market is starting to take notice. On June 22, 2026, SK Hynix rose 6% to a record high of 2,944,000 KRW, surpassing Samsung Electronics in market capitalization and becoming one of the most valuable companies in South Korea. The stock has delivered an extraordinary gain of more than 349% year-to-date, reflecting growing investor confidence in its leadership position in the AI supply chain.
At the heart of this rally is High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), a specialized memory technology that has become essential for modern AI training and inference. HBM allows AI accelerators to process large datasets at extremely high speeds while maintaining efficiency. As AI models grow larger and more complex, demand for HBM continues to rise at an unprecedented pace.
SK Hynix currently leads the global HBM market and remains a key supplier to NVIDIA, whose GPUs power many of the world’s largest AI data centers. Each new generation of AI hardware requires increasingly advanced memory solutions, placing SK Hynix at the core of one of the fastest-growing technology sectors in the world.
The company’s financial performance highlights the strength of this trend. In the first quarter of 2026, SK Hynix reported profit growth of about five times compared with the previous year. Higher DRAM and NAND flash memory prices, combined with strong demand from AI customers, have significantly boosted revenue and margins. Unlike earlier semiconductor cycles that relied heavily on consumer electronics, the current growth is increasingly driven by enterprise AI spending and the expansion of cloud infrastructure.
Another major development drawing investors’ attention is the company’s plan to list American ADRs in the United States. SK Hynix has filed to launch an American Depositary Receipt program in the second half of 2026, potentially improving accessibility for global investors. Management has also indicated that capital raised through this initiative could support treasury share buybacks—a move often seen positively by shareholders because it can enhance earnings per share and capital efficiency.
Meanwhile, competition among tech giants to secure AI chip supply continues to intensify. Reports suggest that major cloud providers are willing to offer direct funding arrangements to ensure access to critical semiconductor components. Global AI data center investment is expected to exceed $700 billion this year, creating strong demand tailwinds for companies involved in producing advanced memory.
For crypto-native investors, access to SK Hynix is much easier through Gate Stocks. The platform enables users to trade tokenized stocks backed one-to-one by regulated infrastructure. Investors can buy fractional shares starting from as little as 0.01 shares using USDT, allowing participation even with a small amount of capital.
Gate Stocks also offers spot trading and perpetual futures with leverage options, while maintaining crypto-based settlement and on-chain withdrawal functionality. Unlike traditional stock markets with limited trading sessions, users can access tokenized equity exposure around the clock.
As AI is adopted across industries and memory demand continues to rise, SK Hynix has positioned itself as one of the clearest pure-play opportunities in the AI infrastructure ecosystem. For investors seeking exposure to the memory layer behind the AI revolution, the company remains one of the most closely watched names in 2026.
