BlockBeats News; on June 25, Xuan Changneng, Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China, said that China’s anti-money laundering work has entered a new stage of high-quality development, with remarkable results in combating money laundering and related illegal and criminal activities. In 2025, the number of cases nationwide in which money laundering offenses were sentenced under Article 191 of the Criminal Law exceeded 2,000. Efforts will be strengthened to crack down on professional money laundering, money laundering involving virtual currencies, and cross-border money laundering activities, while improving the quality and efficiency of investigations, prosecutions, and judgments for money laundering crimes.
The article pointed out that criminal syndicates exploit differences and loopholes among different countries and regions in legal systems, regulatory rules, and other areas to conduct arbitrage. They use multiple methods, such as nominee accounts, funds back-to-back netting, and virtual currencies, to disguise the flow of funds. This poses new challenges for financial supervision and law enforcement crackdowns in countries around the world, and it is also urgent for countries to strengthen cross-border coordination and cooperation in areas such as intelligence sharing, case investigation, and asset recovery and recovery.
