According to TheBell, Samsung Electronics’ P5 Fab 2 construction site in Pyeongtaek has recently deployed multiple new pile drivers. Industry insiders say that as construction equipment continues to move in, this signals that substantive construction on P5 Fab 2 is about to begin, with a high likelihood of breaking ground around next month. Driven by a surge in memory chip orders spurred by the wave of AI infrastructure investment, Samsung has advanced its capital investment timeline by about six months compared with its original plan. P5 Fab 2 will be the sixth factory to be built within Samsung Electronics’ Pyeongtaek campus, and it will also be the final semiconductor production line at the Pyeongtaek campus. Based on 300mm wafers, its expected monthly production capacity is 200,000 to 300,000 wafers, with the goal of achieving first production in 2029. The plant will cover all products, from HBM to next-generation DRAM, NAND flash, and advanced process foundry (contract manufacturing) lines. (Sci-Tech Innovation Board Daily)
