When I first graduated and started working, I encountered a boss who, outside of work matters, spoiled subordinates a lot—bought new phones for everyone, upgraded them as soon as a new model came out, brought liquor in the evening, had a shared fund for meals and snacks, and brought cake in the morning. But once work mode kicked in, everything had to be perfect, and any question asked had to be answerable.
