This update introduces the new B20 token standard.
Until now, launching tokens on Base required deploying separate ERC-20 contracts. With B20, tokens will be created natively and directly on the network.
This change brings faster transfers, lower gas fees, higher security, and much better management tools for projects. It makes building and using tokens significantly easier and more efficient for both developers and users.
At the same time, the Base team continues to ship real improvements.
We’re seeing strong growth in agents and the x402 protocol, with the overall ecosystem becoming more active and robust every day.
Even without a native token, Base has already established itself as one of the strongest and most active Ethereum L2s, with successful projects across DeFi, AI, gaming, and social.
