Multiple law enforcement agencies jointly oppose key provisions of the "Clarity Act," and negotiations are still ongoing

Deep Tide TechFlow News, June 24, according to Crypto in America, the National Association of Prosecutors, the National Association of Assistant Federal Prosecutors, the International Association of Police Chiefs, and the National Sheriffs' Association jointly sent a letter to Acting Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and White House Cryptocurrency Committee Executive Director Patrick Witt, expressing strong opposition to Section 604 of the "Clear Act" (the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, BRCA). Law enforcement agencies believe that this section could create regulatory loopholes that criminals might exploit for illegal activities such as drug trafficking, fraud, child exploitation, sanctions evasion, and terrorist financing.

Meanwhile, candidates supported by cryptocurrencies achieved a full sweep in the primaries in Maryland, New York, and Utah. The Crypto Super PAC Fairshake and its affiliated organizations have invested over $7.6 million in campaigning, including up to $5.5 million supporting candidate Adrian Boafo in Maryland's 5th District.

Miller Whitehouse-Levine, founder of the Solana Policy Research Institute, warned that August 7, 2026, could be the last window for Congress to pass legislation on the structure of the cryptocurrency market. He stated that the industry is willing to make limited revisions to the BRCA section to address law enforcement concerns but firmly opposes any fundamental changes that weaken the core protections of the section.

Additionally, the House Financial Services Committee held a "Future of Payments" hearing on the same day, focusing on topics such as stablecoin regulation, federal banking charters for crypto companies, and the role of digital assets in the U.S. financial system.
