BlockBeats News, June 24 — Palantir co-founder and CEO Alex Karp purchased a ranch of approximately 3,720 acres in Snowmass, Colorado, for $120 million, setting a new record for the highest real estate transaction in Pitkin County’s history.

The property was originally owned by St. Benedict Monastery, purchased in 1956 by Trappist monks, and gradually expanded to its current size. Due to the continuous decline in the monastery’s monks and inability to maintain operations, the decision was made to sell the asset.

This estate is about 15 miles from Aspen, including the monastery, chapel, activity center, barn, and approximately 1,500 acres of irrigated land, with water rights dating back to the 19th century. According to local planning restrictions, it will not be possible to develop ultra-luxury residential projects in the future.

Reports indicate that Karp plans to use the property as a private residence. Alex Karp currently has a net worth of about $11.7 billion. In recent years, as Aspen has become a hub for global billionaires, local high-end real estate prices have continued to rise. Although the transaction price was discounted from the listed price of $150 million in January 2024, it still set a new local record.
