Deep Tide TechFlow news: On June 24, according to The Block, four major U.S. law-enforcement organizations — the National District Attorneys Association, the National Association of Assistant U.S. Attorneys, the International Association of Police Chiefs, and the National Sheriff’s Association — jointly sent a letter to the Department of Justice and the White House warning that Section 604 of the “Clear Act” (i.e., the “Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act”) contains regulatory gaps. The provision grants “safe harbor” exemptions to non-custodial developers. The enforcement agencies believe this move may shield individuals or entities that help facilitate transfers of crypto assets, impede investigations and prosecutions of crypto crimes, and weaken the existing anti-money-laundering framework.
