Abstract generation in progress
CryptoWorld News reports that Cboe Global Markets has announced the launch of its first prediction market contract related to the performance of the S&P 500, expanding its derivatives business with new binary options products. The new platform, Cboe Predicts, has introduced its first contract linked to the Mini S&P 500 Index (XSP), allowing traders to choose yes or no on the index's closing level, with contract sizes at one-tenth of the standard S&P 500 Index, trading under the codes XSPBW and XSPBX, currently available through interactive brokers. Cboe stated that Charles Schwab plans to increase access to these contracts in the coming months. These contracts are built on existing S&P 500 index options, including same-day expiry SPX 0DTE products, enabling traders to predict the closing level of the benchmark index. Cboe's S&P 500 options series offers traders flexibility, and Cboe Predicts helps clients participate in the market more confidently through simple "yes or no" payout event contracts.

The volatility of 0DTE is already exciting enough, and now adding market prediction on top of that makes the leverage a bit too high.

The code XSPBX sounds like some kind of alien language; Cboe's naming department should replace the personnel.

Binary contracts are basically about betting on the direction; no matter how fancy the packaging, it's still yes/no—veterans all understand.

S&P 500 prediction market... Does this count as institutionalizing the way Polymarket operates?

XSPBW this code looks like some kind of cipher, after checking for a long time I realized it's a mini S&P prediction contract, the threshold is indeed a bit low.

Schwab still has to wait a few more months, eager to try dipping their toes in the water.

Finally, I no longer have to watch SPX 0DTE with bated breath; one-tenth of the scale is friendly to small retail investors like me.
