As long as you have held a mainland Chinese driver's license for one year, you can go to the Transport Department on the third floor of the Union Centre at Admiralty Station in Hong Kong to apply for a Hong Kong driver's license. This way, you will have two licenses, one mainland and one Hong Kong. Just provide your domestic driver's license, travel permit, or passport along with proof of address.
Once you have a Hong Kong driver's license, you can drive in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and 53 Commonwealth countries,免试办理法国瑞士的本地驾照, and you can also register it as FV for two-region license plates, valid for 10 years.
