According to Politico, Maryland Democratic State Delegate Adrian Boafo won the Tuesday Democratic primary, running to succeed the retiring Congressman Steny Hoyer in District 5. In this competitive primary with 24 candidates, Boafo received a total of $11 million in outside funding from pro-cryptocurrency groups. Among them, the super PAC Protect Progress, allied with the crypto industry, injected $5.5 million to support Boafo; the pro-AIPAC super PAC United Democracy Project contributed $5.7 million.
