Golden Finance reported that on June 24, Tools for Humanity, which was co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, simultaneously launched two investigations led by external law firms within the company, respectively targeting alleged mishandling of executive funds and alleged violations in its Thailand business. The company’s relevant executives were accused of approving payments of more than a million dollars to a foreign company. The money was not used for normal business procurement or service fees, but to artificially boost the market price of its cryptocurrency Worldcoin. In addition, Tools for Humanity’s Thailand partner was reportedly an internationally wanted “pig butchering scam” suspect. Meanwhile, regulators in multiple countries around the world have raised serious questions about Tools for Humanity’s iris scanning and data collection methods.
