Golden Finance reports that on June 23, Vitalik Buterin disclosed that the Ethereum Foundation (EF) will cut its budget by approximately 40% this year. According to its previously announced financial management plan, EF is transitioning from a model where it spends about 15% of remaining funds annually to one where it spends about 5% annually after 2030, shifting towards a long-term donation-oriented organization.
To this end, EF will adjust its multi-client mode, relying more on AI-assisted formal verification. The PSE privacy and scalability exploration team will shift from "exploration" to focused development around zero-knowledge proofs. Devcon conference operations will be scaled down and incur losses. Large projects beyond Ethereum itself will also be reduced. EF organizational work will focus on smaller, more replicable CROPS-friendly deployment cases.
