Sweden just dropped €100M+ to DITCH tablets & go ALL-IN on printed textbooks. Why? Kids' attention spans are collapsing.

One of the world's most tech-forward nations spent 15 years replacing books with laptops & iPads. By 2015, ~80% of high schoolers had personal devices. Result? PISA reading/math scores tanked (big drops in 2012 & 2022, worse than UK/US in literacy). Reading comprehension fell from "high" to "intermediate." Screens = distraction, shallow reading, weaker focus
Now the massive reversal: €60M in 2023 + €44M more for textbooks (total >€100M / 2.1 billion SEK). Goal = one physical book per student per subject by 2028. Tablets out of preschools. Phone bans incoming. New curriculum heavy on paper, handwriting & deep reading.
Science backs it: Paper beats screens for concentration, retention & foundational skills. Fewer distractions = better relationships, writing & focus.
DITCH SCREENS.
