According to Livecoins, the Federal Public Ministry of Brazil (MPF) issued an article explaining that Brazilian political parties and candidates are not allowed to accept campaign donations in the form of cryptocurrencies. The MPF stated that the relevant ban has been in effect since the approval of Resolution No. 23.607/2019 by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) of Brazil in 2019, because all campaign donations must be identifiable, and cryptocurrencies have pseudo-anonymity, which could affect donation transparency. The MPF also said that violations of the regulations could result in fines for parties and candidates, the return of funds to the treasury, or even prosecution for abuse of economic power.
