An Indian startup valued at $4 billion won Meta investment, but “ceded” its founder to WhatsApp

Golden Finance reports that on June 23, Indian fintech startup Cred is about to complete a $900 million funding round led by Meta Platforms, backed by Mark Zuckerberg. The trade-off is that its founder and CEO, Kunal Shah, “hands over” WhatsApp. Recently, the company said that in this latest round, the startup—soon to have Meta as a minority shareholder—has a valuation of more than $4 billion. This funding will be used to “accelerate business growth, strengthen institutional capabilities, and expand its leading position across all business areas.”
