At 7:41 a.m. local time on the 18th, an Airbus A350-900 carrying more than 260 passengers landed at Zurich International Airport in Switzerland, and later the same day, nearly 200 passengers boarded to return to Shanghai. This marks the official launch of China Eastern Airlines’ nonstop route from Shanghai to Zurich. As reported, the Shanghai–Zurich route will operate three flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The inaugural flight was operated under China Eastern’s “Shanghai Summer” themed flight, integrating Shanghai’s culture and tourism features into cabin service and the in-flight experience, showcasing the charm of Haipai culture and the cityscape of Shanghai. Zurich International Airport welcomed the inaugural flight with a “water gate ceremony.” China Eastern held inaugural ceremonies at both Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Zurich International Airport, and presented commemorative gifts such as airplane plush toys to passengers on the first flight. It is understood that the Shanghai–Zurich nonstop route is the second route in Switzerland operated by China Eastern following the launch of the Shanghai–Geneva route in 2025. China Eastern has also become the only Chinese airline currently operating a nonstop route from China to Zurich. (Xinhua)
