Trump Signs Orders for U.S. Quantum Push and Encryption Defense

Trump signed two executive orders to accelerate U.S. quantum computer development and strengthen federal encryption defenses. One order directs the Department of Energy to host at least one advanced quantum computer and tells the Pentagon to field quantum sensors by 2028. The second order requires federal agencies to secure key establishment by 2030. The U.S. government is pursuing technology that could theoretically break the Bitcoin blockchain while mandating defenses against quantum-enabled attacks.
