Paraguay’s National Electricity Administration (ANDE) said that the Paraguayan courts have issued guilty verdicts against two citizens accused of illegally stealing electricity to mine Bitcoin, with both sentenced to two years in prison. ANDE said that the mining sites involved were directly connected to the low-voltage power grid, completely evading the electricity costs used for mining and causing ongoing economic losses to the country. The court also clarified that the owners of the properties where the illegal mining sites are located will be held responsible as well if they cannot prove they were unaware; landlords’ defenses based on “not knowing” will no longer be valid. Is two years a bit too light? The stolen electricity bill probably enough to buy several houses.

Stealing electricity for mining has finally led to someone going to jail. Paraguay's precedent is quite harsh; even landlords can't pretend to be clueless.

Direct connection to the medium-voltage power grid... This technical skill, unfortunately, is used for nefarious purposes.
